This system supports either Registered ECC or Unbuffered ECC memory. Mixing Registered ECC and Unbuffered ECC modules is not supported within this system.
Opteron 6200 or higher series supports 1600MHz memory.
4GB DDR3-1333 Reg ECC modules come in two versions: 313S/4G using x4 and 3138/4G using x8 DRAM. The two parts may be installed in the same system but not within the same memory bank. Use like modules for dual and triple channel operation.
Higher density 4Gbit DRAM parts like 32GB Q4, 16GB Q8/D4, 8GB D8/S4, or 4GB S8 require Opteron 6200 or 4200 series or newer processors. Older series Opteron 6100 or 4100 processors do not support 4Gbit DRAM parts. Use 16GB Q4, 8GB Q8/D4, or 4GB D8/S4 parts for older series.
