Yesterday afternoon Tier1 consumer site HardOCP completed a review of our Vertex 4 Series. HardOCP has a very strong following among consumers, especially gamers. They are also known for having very strong opinions about hardware. The Vertex 4 delivered throughout their tests and in the end added yet another Editors Choice to the list. In the review HardOCP states:
The Vertex 4 again leads the pack with the mixed read/write workload, which is truly indicative of normal SSD usage.
The Vertex 4 does have the ability to deliver these tremendously high numbers, even having the ability to deliver the highest IOPS available in a consumer SSD today. However, the real story is the performance tuning at the lower queue depths, which are surprisingly the prevalent type of file access in desktop computing.
The Vertex 4 outperforms all competitors in steady state in many of the most important measurements, such as our low QD random file testing.
It is worth mentioning that the OCZ Vertex 4 has been on the market since April of this year, so it is hardly a newcomer compared to some of the SSDs we have directly compared it to. Seeing that it has been selling for six months and still shows to be one of the best enthusiast performance SSDs on the market is not something to gloss over. The OCZ Vertex 4 continues to be a top performer and good value when it comes to making a performance SSD purchasing decision that can boast a mature technology quality.
