The Agility 3: “It’s the best purchase I have ever made.”

OCZ is a company that stands out from other SSD’s manufacturers. First of all they did so with the purchase of Indilinx and secondly they take the lead in the development of SSD technology. Their VCA 2.0 technology for instance enables TRIM support in a multi controller environment.

However, next to these technological wonders they also create great value SSDs which brings us to today’s product: the Agility 3. Positioned as the SSD for the more price conscious buyer the Agility 3 promises similar performance to the Vertex 3 but at a very interesting price.

If we are completely honest, we had our reservations but throughout our tests the Agility 3 really started to impress us. In our synthetic tests it did surprisingly well in the random 4KB test and completely stunned us in the daily use tests. The Samsung SSD RAID configuration that we put next to it only came close when it was almost empty and the Agility 3 completely filled with data.

Combine the performance with the price and you have a great product. It deserves our Editor’s Choice award and we liked it that much that throughout making the review we did in fact recommend this product to someone and he agreed: “It’s the best purchase I ever made”.
