If you’re looking to optimise your rig, we can’t think of a better upgrade. An SSD is silent and super fast. OCZ’s Vertex 3 is an office favourite, and now represents great value too.

The Vertex 3 was our first taste of SandForce’s new special sauce. Under test conditions, the claims made by OCZ for the performance of the Vertex 3 are representative of what the drive is capable of. 4k read and writes scores are pretty impressive too, bettered only by OCZ’s own RevoDrive X2.

To say that the 240GB Vertex 3 is an impressive drive is to do it a disservice; it is a pretty amazing drive with performance you could only dream about even as recently as last year.

About the only problem we have with the Vertex 3 is the fact that it makes a mockery of the SATA 6 Gbps interface. This should have been an interface that future-proofed storage for years to come, but it’s already maxed out.

The OCZ Vertex 3 is the drive all other drives want to be when they grow up. It’s incredible value for money right now.
