A fast SSD with lots of Storage
The OCZ Vertex 2proved to be a fine SSD. In the mean-time the successor has arrived, called the Vertex 3. Is this new drive still so impressive as we are used to from OCZ? Just as the predecessor does the vertex 3 also use the SandForce controller and makes it ready for the new platform, SATA III. Immediately it shows the huge difference between the older interface reaching a massive 52538 score on our PC Mark Vantage test. Another difference which is not obvious is that the Flash chip has evolved from 34Nm to 25Nm. Although the write cycles are lower you do not need to panic as the product lifetime will be more than enough for anybody. You need to note that an SSD performs a little better on Intel platforms versus our AMD platform. And on our system this SSD was already impressive. When you buy the OCZ Vertex 3 you are getting yourself an outstanding drive.
